There’s something truly meaningful about photographing a family in the place where their story began, and my recent session with the Showell family was exactly that. We met at the beautiful country home the kids grew up in; a property surrounded by lush gardens, quiet pockets of shade, and all the charm that only a well loved family home can hold.
This session felt extra special for me personally. I’ve had the honour of photographing two of the Showell kids’ weddings, so returning to the same gardens with the whole extended family felt like a full-circle moment. Seeing everyone together again, reminiscing, laughing, and slipping back into that easy family rhythm made the afternoon feel more like a reunion than a photoshoot.
We wandered through the gardens, stopping at all the best spots, the ones filled with memories for them and with gorgeous light for me. Watching generations come together in a place that holds decades of stories was a reminder of why I love what I do.
It was a joy to catch up, to celebrate how their family has grown, and to capture this new chapter for them in the home that shaped so much of their lives. A truly beautiful session with a truly beautiful family.
