Sean and Jorden are two of the most relaxed people I have had the pleasure of meeting. They were so easy to deal with in the lead up to their wedding and nothing was a worry on the big day, not even the rain. From their photos you can hardly tell the it was storming because their ceremony was under cover and their reception was held indoors. Their ceremony was framed by a real statement arbour which featured antlers at the top, really cementing the rustic country theme. Everything about the day was calm and relaxed and luckily there was enough time before the storm hit to sneak away for some intimate portraits in the forest.

Jay and Hannah's Engagement Session

Jay and Hannah’s wedding is coming up at Terara Riverside Gardens and I couldn’t be more excited. I recently had the pleasure of shooting this lovely couple for their engagement session at Greenfield’s Beach in Jervis Bay. I am so happy with how their photos turned out, they are such a sweet couple and their chemistry made my job easy! We started off shooting on the sand and finished up in the surrounding national park, blessed with the golden light. Here are some of my favourites from their session!

Daniel and Carly's Surprise Wedding

Daniel and Carly executed a surprise wedding last month at Mollymook Surf Life Saving Club. Their friends and family thought they were attending an engagement party however after an hour or so into the party the couple announced that they were getting married as well as revealing the gender of their baby.

The ceremony was beautiful, and the celebration from friends and family at the wonderful surprise were heart warming. It was a beautiful way to create such a special day.

The Hinsley Family

I recently had a wonderful afternoon session in Jervis Bay with the Hinsley family.

We met at one of my favourite beach locations, Blenheim Beach. Winter on the coast is a beautiful time of the year to have photos as there aren’t many people around and the lighting is perfect. Chris organised this session as a gift to his wife Kathryn and what a nice idea for something memorable.

When I photograph children I like to keep the photos as natural as possible, letting them just be kids. The beach was perfect for this as they could run and explore. I try to avoid awkward posing that make my clients uncomfortable, instead I like everyone to relax and enjoy the session so then the real moments can happen naturally. Here are some of the highlights from their session.

Nest Residential Design's Shoalhaven Heads Project

Last week I had the opportunity to photograph the finished build of a prestige coastal home designed by Nest Residential Design. The cutting edge double storey home takes full advantage of its proximity to Shoalhaven Heads beach and was designed to be filled with light throughout the day. I am really enjoying photographing the work by the team at Nest because of their attention to detail in every aspect of the design. It was a no brainer to include some drone photos of this beautiful coastal house!

Geordie and Cassie's Sydney Wedding

Geordie and Cassie were married in a beautiful, traditional Anglican wedding at Pymble Anglican Church followed by their reception at Monash Country Club. After the family portraits were taken we spent some time around the golf course where the couple got to ride in a buggy, enjoy some champagne and take advantage of the sun setting.

Although the wedding reception was formal in a lot of ways, the couple spent very little time in their seats and most of the night on the dance floor.

It was such a pleasure to be involved in this wedding. Capturing moments which I hope, will be treasured memories for the couple and their family for many years. Congratulations Geordie and Cassie and all the best!

Sam and Elise's Mosman Wedding

When Sam and Elise got in touch with me to shoot their Sydney Wedding I jumped at the chance. Having lived in the city for five years with my wife I was eager to get back to a place that held so many great memories.

Sam and Elise chose to have their wedding ceremony at Bradley's Head Amphitheatre. This was a great choice of location as the view of Sydney is fantastic. After the ceremony we were able to take advantage of the circular driveway at the top of Bradley’s Head for some photos with the Rolls Royce. After Bradley’s Head we headed to Balmoral Beach and then on to the reception venue, Gunners Barracks. The couple opted for a traditional sit-down reception. What I like about a seated reception is it helps in the organisation of the evening and gives the celebration a more formal feel which allows for the flow of speeches, cake cutting and of course, dancing!

I had such a great time celebrating with Sam and Elise and couldn’t be happier for them!

Adam and Fay's Gerringong Wedding

Thank you Adam and Fay for sharing your special day with me!

There was so much love and warmth in both the ceremony at St Mary’s Star of the Sea in Gerringong and in the afternoon when we met up again to take the couples intimate wedding portraits. It’s no secret that some of the best wedding photos are taken in the golden hour so I was very excited when the couple wanted to explore Berry and Gerroa right before the sun set.

It was really an unforgettable wedding, one I will definitely remember!

Heath and Amy's Wedding at Cupitt's Winery

Congratulations to Heath and Amy who were the winners of our Win Your Wedding Photography competition!

When asked what winning this prize meant to Heath and Amy they said:

“We couldn’t have been more thankful for the winning the competition. It meant that we had peace of mind and security knowing that we had a fantastic and talented photographer locked in. As we all know, photography can also take up a large proportion of any wedding budget, so with that pressure gone we were able to put our resources towards some finer details that we may have forgone otherwise. It was these small details that really culminated in creating the most perfect day. We wouldn’t have changed a thing. And to boot, the photos that Sam has produced are absolutely breathtaking. They honestly bring a tear to mine and Heath’s eyes. We’re so thankful that we have such precious memories captured so beautifully.”

We asked them to tell us about the style of their wedding and the best part of their day to which they answered:

“In terms of style, we loved that although Cupitts is a little bit country and rustic, it still has an elegant French feel with the stone cottage and the tall conifer trees so we tried to keep things a little classic. We put the boys in tux style suiting, and kept the florals quite classic and elegant with just a touch of modern fun. We didn’t want them too whimsical or unstructured. The shady fig absolutely nailed the brief and found some beautiful ways of keeping the flowers classic but still like nothing I had ever seen before. We did the same with our stationary and signage, keeping it fairly modern, simple and monochromatic. The girls dresses were from Australian label Manning Cartel. After I had chosen my dress, I remember thinking that I had seen something with a similar off the shoulder style as a potential bridesmaid option but couldn’t remember where! One day I was just browsing through some of my fave labels online and re-spotted them. They matched beautifully without being too “matchy matchy” and upheld the simple classic elegance we were going for. The best part of the day for me was walking down the aisle and spotting out all of the people that I love so deeply all in the one place celebrating us. And then of course seeing my beautiful husband to be waiting at the end for me.”

Jayden and Karishma's Cambewarra Wedding

Your wedding should be one of the best days of your life, and Jayden and Karishma made sure this was the case when planning their fun filled wedding at Cambewarra Estate Winery. The two decided to incorporate lawn games and a bouncing castle into their day, they threw tradition out the window and opted to have a Krispy Kreme cake. John and Jasmine's Kangaroo Valley Wedding

John and Jasmine celebrated their marriage with a wedding at one of our iconic Australian bush venues, Wildwood in Kangaroo Valley. After a beautiful ceremony overlooking the Valley the two were eager to explore the surrounding landscape for their bridal portraits. The day was as much about their love as it was a celebration of their families coming together. The groom subtly hinted at the gender of their baby through his choice of tie colour which was later announced at the reception. Thomas and Morgan's Blue Mountain's Wedding

A classic garden wedding styled with white chairs and a fabric arbour, complete with the couples closest friends and family; Thomas and Morgan curated a beautiful selection of elements that married perfectly on the day.

Thomas set the mood by setting up the wedding before Morgan arrived with the sweetest flower girls and page boy. The Blue Mountains Botanical Gardens was the perfect backdrop for not only their ceremony but also their portraits.

The wedding of Jake and Hannah, which took place at Novotel North Beach earlier this month was one big celebration of love. The beautiful ocean views, which North Wollongong Novotel is famous for, made for the perfect backdrop, captivating the guests who had travelled from all around the world to celebrate their marriage. After the ceremony was over, I joined the loved up couple and their bridal party and as visited a relatives nearby property to take portraits in the garden. The beautifully thought out aesthetic of the entire wedding meant there were so many opportunities for gorgeous photos. Jono and Alysha's Gerroa Wedding

Jono and Alysha’s wedding in Gerroa was such a nice afternoon celebrating their love. Jono went above and beyond to surprise his new wife with a special car to take her to the ceremony and she sure was surprised! The couple exchanged rings and made promises about their future in front of friends and family at the beach and it was very heartfelt.

Mathew and Alana's Mudgee Wedding

Mudgee NSW was the perfect setting for the wedding of Mathew and Alana who tied the knot at the picturesque Olive Nest in front of family and friends, many who travelled to join the couple in their marriage celebrations. This was my first visit to Mudgee and I was so impressed by the beautiful countryside and colonial buildings that make up the main street of the town centre. Mathew and Alana had two people in their bridal party which meant the couple had a really nice morning with their closest friend and family before heading to the ceremony. I was so happy to be asked to photograph this wedding because this couple is the perfect reminder of what love is all about.

Nest Residential's Culburra Project

A couple of weeks ago I visited one of Nest Residential Design’s recent projects in Culburra, NSW. The Nest team worked with the owners of this property to redesign a home that was better suited to this waterfront block. Having seen the before photos of this knock down re build it is incredible to see what these local designers are capable of. As a photographer I enjoyed photographing this open plan home that was flooding with natural light.

Callala Maternity Session

Now that I’m a parent myself, I love meeting new parents to be because I can so clearly remember what it’s like to be in their shoes. This family session holds a special place in my heart because just like Nathan and Cara, my wife Natalie and I are expecting our second child later this year. I know it is such an exciting time that goes by so quickly.

Nathan and Cara, thank you so much for allowing me to capture such a special time for your family. I hope that every time you look at these photos, you’ll be taken back to a time you look back on with great joy. Congratulations to you both!

Tom and Elise's Wedding

Tom and Elise’s wedding was held in late Marc at the Headlands Austinmer Beach, and the day couldn’t have gone better. The expecting couple decided to surprise their guests with a gender reveal during their reception. Not only was the gender of their baby a surprise to their loved ones, it was also a surprise for the newlyweds. I was able to get some great portraits revealing that baby Woods is a girl.
